Delhi police have arrested a 40-year-old property dealer for cheating three persons of more than Rs 2 crore by selling the same property to all three. The incident took place at the posh Greater Kailash.

Early January, a complaint has been registered at Greater Kailash police station by the family of the accused, identified as Amit Aggarwal, that he has gone missing. A few days later, several people informed the police that they were cheated by Aggarwal.

On investigation, the police got to know that Aggarwal has sold his property at R-Block in Greater Kailash to three people. On receiving the advance payment from the trio, and having collected more than Rs 2 crore, he started making excuses in handing over the property.

‘Aggarwal is residing at Greater Kailash with his father, who is also a property dealer, wife and a son who studies in Class 12 in a reputed school in south Delhi. Aggarwal also runs a shop with the name Pentz Solution at DLF Saket in south Delhi,’ the official added.

On 21 January, Aggarwal approached the police station and surrendered himself to the police. After which he was arrested on the basis of the complaint and the confession he made of his crime.

When asked about the huge amount he received by cheating three people, he told police that he had spent most of the Rs 2 crore.

‘He bought a SUV, invested some money on a property and the remaining amount has been deposited in two separate bank accounts,’ the official added quoting Aggarwal.

A case under the Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of Indian Penel Code has been registered against Amit Aggarwal. He is presently under police remand for the next few days.
