Mamata announces Mayors for Bidhan Nagar and Asansol

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has named Sabyasachi Dutta as the new Mayor of the newly formed Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation and Krishna Chakraborty as the Corporation’s Chairman. Mamata Banerjee met new councillors of the municipality at Khudiram <g data-gr-id="36">Anusilon</g> Centre on Tuesday and announced the new mayor of the Bidhannagar Municipal corporation.

Banerjee also announced Tapas Chatterjee’s name as the  Deputy Mayor of the Corporation. Chatterjee is an inductee from the CPM and a veteran politician.  Former state Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta was announced as the Mayoral candidate by the CPM for Bidhannagar.  He lost in the October 3 polls.

Before the civic polls, Krishna Chakraborty was the municipal head of <g data-gr-id="39">Bidhannagar .</g> “All three TMC leaders are experienced politicians, so the party has gained from depending on them. The Trinamool Congress must give a chance to tried and tested politicians.  

The objective of Board should be to provide modern civic assets which are durable and improved civic amenities to its residents. The areas where improvement can happen are water supply, drainage and power. There are many problems as new housing is coming up in the entire area”, Trinamool MP Sisir Adhikary told Millennium Post.

Jitendra Tiwari has been named for the Mayoral post in Asansol. He was Chairperson of erstwhile Asansol municipality. Tabassum Ara will be <g data-gr-id="32">deputy</g> Mayor. 

Banerjee said the party will form a three-member committee headed by state Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim with Youth Affairs Minister <g data-gr-id="30">Aroop</g> Biswas and Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee to help the newly formed boards to work properly.

The Trinamool Congress swept all the civic boards of Bidhannagar, Asansol and Bally when the results were declared on Saturday.
