Now you can book a GPS-tracked radio taxi at the IRCTC website, and you don’t have to be necessarily a train passenger for that. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) Ltd, which recently forayed into road transportation for rail passengers by launching ‘Concierge Services’ at New Delhi and some other major stations, has now rolled out the ‘Cab for All’ service to provide a safe, hassle-free and affordable taxi ride for people in Delhi/NCR.
For providing this service, IRCTC has entered into tie-ups with three leading radio taxi operators — Easy Cabs, Meru Cabs and Mega Cabs. Any person can now book a cab on the website of IRCTC.
Passengers can book a radio cab along with their train or flight ticket in advance. The registered radio taxis comply with all the rules laid down by the government. Not only are all these cabs centrally tracked through GPS but also all the drivers are trained and have police verifications. After a long train journey, customers will not have wait in long queues to get a cab.
The radio cab service is available to commuters at the government-approved rate of Rs 23 per km.
IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director Dr A K Manocha said, “With our partnership with the three radio taxi service providers, we have reached one step closer to our goal of making every passenger’s trip a reliable and safe one. The launch of the service will help Railways provide a 360-degree travel solution to its patrons.”
This tie-up is particularly good for the commuters who are travelling from one major city to another. One can now avail the cab services through the IRCTC portal without being hassled by touts, and the billing is transparent. Initially, the radio cab service has been launched in Delhi/NCR and shortly plans are underway to roll it out in other cities also.
Manocha further added, “By launching the new service, we have provided a platform to radio cab companies to provide safe travel to commuters. IRCTC now offers a complete bouquet of travelling solutions to its customers — booking of e-tickets for rail and air travel, concierge service and now radio taxi service.”
