Mahindra Reva, a part of the Mahindra Group, plans to start exporting its electric car to Europe next year, a senior company official said on Monday.
'We have plans to export Mahindra Reva in Europe from 2014,' Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, chief of operations, R Chandramouli, told reporters here after announcing the launch of the company's new model of 'e2o'.
'We are working on the regulatory framework of the European Union for starting export,' he added.
The company on Sunday unveiled its all-electric, zero-emission car here, which would be made available at EMI of Rs 12,802 for customers of Chandigarh. Chandramouli declined to give any information on the number of bookings made so far. The company is targeting big cities for marketing the vehicle, he said. 'We are targeting metro cities only for promotion of our product,' he said, adding that it would be available at Mahindra outlets. Asked whether any state government provides subsidy on the purchase of eco-friendly car, he said only Delhi government is offering 15 per cent subsidy on purchase of the vehicle.
The car comes with lithium-ion batteries and can run 100 km on five hours of charging. It also has a regenerative braking feature which allows its to pump energy back into car's batteries and charges them every time when it is in slow mode or brakes are applied.
IGATPURI PLANT ‘TOOLS DOWN’ STIR CALLED OFF
The work at auto-major Mahindra & Mahindra's engine manufacturing facility at Igatpuri, near Nashik, resumed on Monday ending the 14-day 'tools down' agitation by workers, who were protesting the suspension of two employees including a union leader.
The company management gave into the Union's demand of reinstatement of the suspended workers after the intervention of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, who had a meeting with a senior Mahindra Group official on Saturday, a Union leader said.
Besides, the management also agreed to withdraw the chargesheet proceedings against the suspended duo, he said.
'The employees have called off the agitation and work at the plant has resumed from 11 am,' Bhartiya Kamgar Sena President Suryakant Mahadik said.
