Two women jumped to their deaths in two separate cases of unrequited love in Noida and Greater Noida on Tuesday. This is the fourth case of suicide by jumping in the area in the past five days.
Thirty-five-year-old Savita Saini of Noida committed suicide by jumping down from the eighth floor of Kailash Dham Society in sector 50 Noida where she resided. According to police Savita had had a heated argument with her live-in partner, 40-year-old, Mukesh Saini, following which she jumped to her death at around 10 pm on Tuesday night. The victim had an eight-year-old daughter with her first husband and had been living with Mukesh for the past one-and-a-half year. Mukesh is also married and has two children who live in Sadarpur village in Noida. The case however took a different turn on Wednesday, with Savita's family alleging that she had been murdered. 'The victim's family and daughter have alleged that Mukesh pushed her down from the balcony, and we are now investigating possible murder. No suicide note was recovered from the spot,' said Sanjay Verma, inspector, Sector 49 police station. Mukesh has been arrested.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old Archana Shukla committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of her boyfriend's flat in AWHO Society in Greater Noida at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. Archan was an executive in Radisson Blue hotel in Greater Noida and had was in a relationship with Prashant Kumar, HR manager with DENSO, a multinational company in Greater Noida.
The victim, who hails from Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, was living with her younger brother in sector P-3 in Greater Noida. She had gone to meet her boyfriend and his mother on Tuesday night.
According to police the two were planning to marry but their parents were against the match.
Prashant had earlier arranged for a job for her younger brother in his company. After the incident Kumar rushed her to the nearby Yathartha Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
