In a bizarre incident in the north-west Delhi's Swaroop Nagar area on Friday, two youngsters shot six people, before they ultimately shot themselves. The police have not ruled out the angle of property dispute and love affair.
At about 5 pm on Friday, two youths – identified as Manish and Rajbir – aged between 20 and 30 years and resident of the same area suddenly entered into the house of Rajbir's cousin Krishan Sharma, 38, and shot at him.
They came out of the house and shot at Usha Yadav, 25, a neighbour of Krishan and left the area. Soon after, they entered into the house of Jyoti, who lived nearby, and shot her as well. Hearing the sound of gunshots the residents plunged into a state of shock.
But, the duo were on a killing spree and they did not stop. They entered in the house of Rajbir and shot Rajbir's wife Puja, 22, and his daughters Khushi and Rashi. After they shot six people, they ultimately shot themselves.
Manish is said to have been obsessed with Jyoti, while Rajbir allegedly had a property dispute with his brother Krishna. 'We are linking the sequence of events and trying to figure out the reason of the bloodshed,' said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police [north-west].
The police have recovered two .315 bore pistols and and a gun from the spot.
After the incident each of the injured people were rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where Rajbir, Jyoti, Usha and Khushi were declared dead on arrival, while Manish, Krishan, Rashi and Puja are undergoing treatment.
According to sources, Manish wanted to marry Jyoti, but she had already been engaged a month back to someone else. While Rajbir had a property dispute with his cousin brother Krishan, he is said to have had a past with Usha.
