We told you first about it. And now it is happening. On Valentine’s Day today, one of the Capital’s landmarks — Jantar Mantar — is all set to be lit up by a French artiste with the help of light technicians from Chandannagore in Bengal.
The Institut Français en Inde and the French Embassy in India will host Luminosity: Celebrating Bonjour India. Luminosity brightly represents the spirit of Bonjour India with an eclectic mix of different genres and the coming together of Indian and French artists.
This vastly inter-disciplinary festival will exhibit a culmination of music, visual art and fashion, which would come alive with a performance by French band Scratch Bandits Crew.
It will be highlighted by the artists Patrick Rimoux and Nandita Palchoudhuri, who are well known for their sculptural light work. This unique ambience will provide the backdrop for the dresses of light created by the Franco-Indian couture duo Lecoanet-Hemant.
Patrick Rimoux, who is an expert in modulating light according to his will, says: ‘The theme we put up this time is solar system. The main focus would be on the stars. It would be a very romantic event too, with pole of lights, with music, straight from the city of love, Paris. The theme is inspired by a common nature, an imaginary India. I wanted a cross-cultural cast to relate to the Indian audience.’
He would be showcasing new technologies, innovative designs and new lightings, along with the modulation of theatrical lights.
‘French music which would be the flavour of the show and will be juxtaposed with the light instillations. The music would range from French to Indian traditional folk music, along with the lightings and various designs,’ says Nandita Pal Choudhuri, an artist from Kolkata. She also says that artists from Chandannagar, Bengal, would be assisting her in the show. These artists light up Durga Puja pandals in Bengal.
The spectacle will mix electronic music, visual arts and design.
So get all set to get starry today evening as you celebrate the spirit of love.
