LG Jung takes Metro rides, lauds DMRC

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, on Friday visited the Delhi Metro system and appreciated the initiatives taken by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in ensuring a sustainable urban transport system in India. He was accompanied by Dr Mangu Singh, Managing Director/DMRC throughout the visit.

Jung boarded the Metro at the Civil Lines Metro station and travelled upto Race Course Metro station. At Race Course Metro station he visited the Crafts Map of India Gallery. He appreciated the efforts taken by DMRC to promote Indian art and culture among its commuters. He then boarded the Metro train for Patel Chowk and visited the Metro Museum there. He also travelled to Rajiv Chowk Metro station and inspected the crowd management facilities of the station and interchange of passengers between Line-2 and Line-3/4. He also expressed satisfaction at the way passenger rush is handled by DMRC at interchange stations during peak hours, ” said DMRC in a press statement.

Meanwhile, DMRC’s Principal Advisor and former Managing Director, Dr E Sreedharan told business leaders on Friday that DMRC, with its unique work culture and continuous adherence to values and ethics in daily functioning, is a role model for other business entities in the country.

Speaking at a day-long workshop titled ‘Leading Businesses with Ethics and Integrity — An interactive workshop for business leaders’, Dr Sreedharan said that the Delhi Metro functions on the four principles of punctuality, integrity, professional competence and social responsibility. 

He said that the Delhi Metro always maintains a punctuality of over 99.95 per cent because within the organisation it is believed that if an employee reports late for duty he cannot run the Metro services punctually.
