In yet another incident of sudden provocation, a 61-year-old man stabbed his wife to death after a mindless argument over Rs 10 that she had lent to someone. The incident took place in West Delhi’s Nangloi area on Monday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Rani (42) who was the second wife of Ashok, the accused. Few years ago, he separated from his first wife. It was the second marriage for Rani as well who married Ashok and started staying with him with her two sons, born from her first husband. At the time of the incident, none of the children were in the house.

Ashok’s brother made a call to the Police Control Room and informed about the murder.

A police team reached the spot and found Rani lying in a pool of blood. Several wound injuries were spotted on her body. She was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. The caller, identified as Rajesh, told the police that the couple were fighting on Monday afternoon. When Rajesh went to their room, he found that Ashok had already killed his wife. Somehow, Rajesh managed to nab him till the police reached the spot and he was handed over to them.

On intense interrogation, Ashok told police that the couple were having a quarrel over Rani lending Rs 10 to someone. “Ashok asked her about it and that led to a heated exchange between the two,” the police official said.

The argument turned violent when Rani slapped Ashok and in a sudden provocation, Ashok rushed to the kitchen, got a knife and repeatedly stabbed her.  A case under the sections of murder has been booked against Ashok. The weapon of offence was recovered from the spot.
