Those who lost their near and dear ones in the Uphaar fire tragedy during the screening of blockbuster film ‘Border’ in the Uphaar fire tragedy say that 16 years later justice still remains a mirage for them. They said there can be no peace for their loved ones till justice is done.

On Thursday, like every year, they will assemble and hold prayers opposite the ill-fated cinema hall.
A huge fire had broken out at Uphaar cinema on 13 June 1997. Fifty nine people died due to asphyxia and over 100 people were injured in the
subsequent stampede.

Every year on this date, families of the victims assemble opposite Uphaar cinema for prayer meeting and remember their
loved ones.
