Accused of high-handedness and after a massive poll debacle in Kerala and West Bengal, the Left Front has now decided to settle their differences with smaller left-oriented parties across the country.
Party sources said, ‘The current political scenario is not conducive for a Third Front. Some of our leaders are making such statement but ground realities are not in our favour, especially when it comes to Samajwadi Party, BSP, Janata Dal (S) and Janata Dal (U).’
‘Therefore it was decided in the meeting that time has come to resolve minor ideological issues with other Left-oriented parties which are active in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand,’ he said.
The Left Front is now considering going slow to strengthen ground in India. They have already started talks with RSP, Rashtravadi Communist Party in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, IPF in Bihar and Jharkhand and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
Left leaders stressed that instead of trusting non-left ideological parties, it’s always better to have an agreement with those parties which are cadre based with have the same vision against Congress and BJP. ‘This is the only way out for us to make a stronghold in the country. We know it will take some time but we are confident that it will yield some results,’ a senior leader of Forward Block said.
Left leaders said they have already got good response due to an understanding among themselves (other Left parties) in Rajasthan and in Chhattisgarh and expecting more seats in both places.
