While replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Ninong Ering, the minister of state, minority affairs on Friday said that ‘Schemes for Leadership Development of minority Women’, free coaching and allied scheme for the candidates belonging to minority communities, are being implemented. In these schemes funds are granted to Non-Government Organization (NGOs).
The objective of ‘Scheme of Leadership development of minority Women’ implemented from the year 2012-13, is to empower and instill confidence among minorities, by providing knowledge, tools and techniques for interacting with Government Systems, Banks and other institutions at all levels.
The funds granted to select NGOs under the scheme during 2012-13 is Rs. 10.45 Crore.
The criteria for this scheme, on which grants were provided to the NGOs are, capacity of the organization and infrastructure available with the organization. Besides, before sanctioning the scheme, organizations were shortlisted on the basis of mandatory criteria prescribed under the scheme guidelines. The objective of Free Coaching and Allied Scheme is to coach/train candidates of minority communities to secure jobs.
