A day after hundreds of lawyers came out onto the streets of Delhi in support of those who led the violent attacks on Monday and Wednesday at the Patiala Hourt Courts, where they thrashed Jawaharlal Nehru University students and journalists, Lawyer Om Sharma, one of the three lawyers who was issued summons by the Delhi Police to join the probe in the matter was released on bail soon after he was arrested on Saturday.
According to Jatin Narwal, DCP (New Delhi), “Om Sharma joined the investigation in the case registered against him at the Tilak Marg police station on Saturday and was arrested under Sections 147 (Punishment for rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323(causing simple hurt) and 427 (causing damage to property) of the IPC. He was released on bail as per the provisions of the law.” In the video that went viral, Om Sharma was also seen assaulting students.
