In yet another road rage incident, a lawyer somehow managed to escape from being crushed to death by an SUV, allegedly being driven by a driver who was drunk, on July 19 night at the inner circle of Connaught Place, police said on Wednesday. The lawyer saved himself by jumping onto the bonnet of the SUV and then clinging on to one of the windshield wipers before falling off at a safe distance on the road.

The victim, JK Bhola, is a resident of Ghaziabad and is registered as an advocate in the Patiala House Court in Delhi. Around 10.30 pm on July 19, when Bhola was driving home in his Toyota Innova, the other SUV hit his car at the intersection near PVR plaza.

The other car — which was either a Fortuner or another Toyota Innova, which Bhola could not notice clearly — was approaching from the outer circle of Connaught Place, said a police official. When Bhola deboarded his vehicle and approached the errant driver, he pressed the accelerator and tried to crush Bhola.

In order to save himself, Bhola jumped onto the SUV’s bonnet. With Bhola clung on one of the wipers, the SUV sped towards <g data-gr-id="19">Panchkuian</g> Road and disappeared after Bhola fell off at a safe distance. Bhola, however, noted the registration number of the car and reported the matter to the police. A PCR team soon rushed him to the RML Hospital for first aid. A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 323 (causing hurt) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC was registered.
