‘Largest tennis lesson’ at Chennai Open sets Guinness world record

Chennai Open successfully conducted the ‘largest tennis lesson’ here at the SDAT Stadium on Tuesday, giving tennis lessons to over 950 kids from different parts of the city at the same time at one venue. The current record of 803 kids being taught tennis at the same time, which is acknowledged by the Guinness World Records, was set in 2015 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. 

Officials from Guinness World Records were present to monitor and record the entire effort and to ensure that all stipulated rules and regulations were followed. They will now send the details to their head office, which will evaluate the data and confirm that a new record has been set. As many as 100 kids were handpicked by prominent coaches to take part in the ‘Play with the Pros’ activation, allowing them to hit it out with the players.
