In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old man who got married two-and-a-half-months ago, died of electrocution while working on a laptop which was on charging mode in South-east Delhi’s Tughalakabad area.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday when Brijesh was working on his Dell laptop which was on charging mode. Suddenly, his wife who was in the same room heard a sparking noise at around 2.30 am. When she turned around she noticed that Brijesh had received an electric shock and was unconscious.
She told police that she somehow managed to turn off the switch and screamed to gather other family members. With the help of the locals he was rushed to the nearby Majeetia Hospital where he was declared brought dead. A Khan, doctor at Majeetia hospital said: “The family members of the victim told me that he was electrocuted. But by the time, Brijesh was brought to the hospital he was dead. The body has been sent for the post-mortem examination at AIIMS and the exact cause of his death would be ascertained after the autopsy report.”
The laptop has been seized by the police and sent for the forensic examination. Brijesh was working as a manager in a private firm in Faridabad and got married two-and-a-half-months ago. After the sudden death of Brijesh, a pall of gloom has descended over the family.
Meanwhile, the experts feel the habit of using earphones while charging the laptop or going to sleep with the device still attached to the charger could be fatal.
