Kolkata: The identity of the deceased youth, who was found dead on Sunday morning at a housing complex in Golf Green has been established. The youth was identified as Santosh Singh Adhikari (27) of Jorhat in Assam.
Police came to know that the youth used to stay at a paying guest facility at Bikramgarh in Jadavpur. Adhikari an architect and used to work in Goa. He was an drug addict and has been to a rehabilitation centre for a few months in Delhi. However, during his stay in Goa, Adhikari was named in a criminal case for which he lost his job.
Approximately one and half months ago he came to Kolkata searching for a new job. But as he did not find any, Adhikari was depressed. His roommates told police that on Saturday night he consumed liquor and went to sleep. Around 4 am he woke up and went out of the house and since then he was untraceable.
It was alleged during night hours antisocial activities are carried out in the area. Deputy Commissioner of South Division Sudeep Sarkar on Tuesday night along with police force conducted raids. During his visit to the area, he interacted with locals and heard their problems and grievances. Several rough bikers were detained and prosecuted.
