Kolkata: The state government has created new posts in West Bengal Police.
The decision to create the new posts was taken mainly to post more policemen for the protection of the people from the Hills. The decision in this connection has been taken in the Cabinet meeting held in Nabanna on Thursday.
Sources said that the creation of posts in police when trouble had been going on in the Hills for the past three months was quite significant.
At the same time, steps have been taken to recruit around 250 contractual employees in North Bengal State Tourism Corporation (NBSTC). The recruitment of the contractual employees will help in providing better services to commuters.
Several buses of NBSTC were set on fire during the agitation in the Hills. Despite such a situation, the employees of the NBSTC had continued the bus services risking their lives.
During the floods in North Bengal, the bus services connecting Kolkata with different parts of the region had been made possible as early as possible. NBSTC has also introduced Premium Rocket buses with bio-toilets to ensure better connectivity at much lesser time from different locations in North Bengal to Kolkata in March 21. The need of recruiting the contractual employees was felt after introducing these facilities. So Thursday's decision of the state Cabinet will be of immense help to the transport corporation.
