University of Ruhuna, CU sign MoU, joint researches to follow

Kolkata: A Memorandum-of-understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka and Calcutta University, with an aim to carry out joint researches and work together to strengthen human resources of the two institutions.

Both the universities have entered a long term collaboration, agreement and partnership on mutual understanding between the two institutions.

The collaboration will be on joint research, consultancy, workshops, exchange programmes and training. According to the MoU, both institutions will arrange suitable and reasonably priced accommodations for the visits of teachers and students from the partner institution.

Office facilities, computers, secretarial and other services shall be made available for the visiting professors.

The specific agreements for the various projects under this collaboration shall be established, mentioning their purposes, activities and obligations.

According to the agreement, each institution shall appoint a coordinator/project manager for each such agreement. Amendments to this MoU can be made when both the parties will agree and approve the matter.

According to the CU officials, it's a unique move to strengthen ties between the two institutions. Both the universities will share their expertise.

The MoU will help both the institutions to understand each other. The agreement will remain valid for a period of five years.

Delegations of students and teachers from each university will visit each other from time to time through a knowledge sharing programme. Both the universities look forward to enrich themselves through the new partnership.
