Update: 2017-03-05 19:18 GMT
The women wing's of Trinamool Congress will hold protest rally from Subodh Mallick Square to Rani Rashmoni Avenue on Monday to protest against the Centre's decision to link Aadhaar card with midday meal programmes in schools.

This comes a day after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: "Now even infants (0-5 years) will need Asdhaar cards? Aadhaar cards for midday meals and Integrated Child Development Scheme? Shocking! 100 Days' Work also not spared."

In a bid to build up protest against such "anti-people" steps of the Modi government, the party's women cell has decided to hit the streets of the city. The attempt would be to make people aware of such steps of the BJP government.

The women's wing of Trinamool Congress will assemble at Subodh Mallick Square and the rally would begin at 12 noon. Women workers of the party will be joining the rally on Monday and they will raise their voice against the Centre's decision not to enroll a child for midday meal in future if they do not have Aadhaar card. Even those who have been receiving the benefit would also be dropped from the list if they are found without Aadhaar card.

Expecting a huge turnover to attend the rally, the police made necessary arrangement to avoid traffic congestion on the first day of the week.

Traffic would be diverted through alternate route if it becomes necessary. The decision in this regard will be taken on spot based on the situation. Senior officers of the city police's Traffic department will be on duty and they would work to ensure that the rally doesn't create any traffic congestion.
