The Hindi University, West Bengal Bill, 2019,to be passed in House today

Kolkata: The Hindi University, West Bengal Bill, 2019, is expected to be passed in the Assembly on Thursday.

The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had laid the foundation stone of the state's first Hindi University on March 6 at a programme in Howrah, where she announced a host of other projects as well.

The Hindi University will come up at Arupara in Howrah and will offer courses on various subjects at the undergraduate level. Students from mediums other than Hindi can also secure admission in the university.

The state government has taken up the project keeping in view of establishing a center of excellence exclusively dedicated to enrich the Hindi language in the field of higher education. Literature, journalism and various others branches of studies will be taught at the university.

The state government has been considering the establishment of stated aided university in the name of Hindi University keeping in view the prosperous contribution of Hindi literature and language by various poets and writers in Bengal.

The state government felt the need of setting a Hindi University in Howrah as it found that a large number of Hindi speaking people from various parts of the country had concentrated on either sides of Hooghly River.

A large-scale of industrialization took place in Howrah.

The process of setting up of the university will be initiated after the Bill is passed in the Assembly.
