Ten more fire stations to come up across Bengal by 2018 end

Kolkata: To boost the firefighting infrastructure in the state, the Fire and  Emergency Services Department will set up 10 more fire stations across the state by the end of 2018. 
Some of the places where the fire stations would come up are Madhyamgram and Lalkuthi (Barrackpore) in North 24 Parganas district, Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas  district, Contai in Purba Medinipur district and Dankuni in Hooghly district, the official sources here today said. 
"Our focus will be not only be on setting up new fire stations but also at upgrading the infrastructure of the existing fire stations," state Fire and Emergency minister Sovan  Chatterjee said. 
It may be mentioned that there are 131 fire stations in the 23 districts of the state.
So, by the end of the year, the number would rise to 141.
