Superintendent of destitute home to be questioned

Update: 2017-02-24 19:31 GMT
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will interrogate the superintendent of the home for destitute children, which was run by the prime accused of the Jalpaiguri child trafficking racket.

The investigating officers came to know that the prime accused, Chandana Chakraborty did not allow the officials of Bimala Sishu Griha, her home for destitute children, to get involved in any matters of her short-stay home, Ashray.

Pregnant women were given shelter in Ashray. After they gave birth, the newborns were kept in Bimala Sishu Griha. It was done purposely so that no one easily can understand that the children were born in Ashray.

Only three to four "selected and close" employees were allowed to work in Ashray and they hardly used to interact with those who were responsible for running Bimala Sishu Griha.

Thus, to get more details about the functioning of the home for destitute children, the CID officers have decided to interrogate the Superintendent of the home, Dipti Ghosh.

CID officials came to know that Dipti told her close ones that she was unaware of the fact that Chandana was running a child trafficking racket in the guise of destitute home.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress workers on Friday staged a demonstration outside the house of the BJP Mahila Morcha state secretary Juhee Chowdhury for her alleged involvement in the racket.

A large number of Trinamool Congress workers gathered outside the house of Juhee at Assam More in Jalpaiguri. They demanded arrest of Juhee's father claiming that he knows where she is hiding.

Saikat Chatterjee, the district president of Trinamool Youth Congress, lodged a complaint with the police on Friday against the state BJP president Dilip Ghosh for his statement directing to attack Trinamool Congress workers. On Thursday, Ghosh had directed his supporters to beat up Trinamool Congress workers if they come to stage a demonstration. Ghosh attended a public meeting in Jalpaiguri on Thursday and he was shown black flags by some Trinamool Congress workers during his visit to the district.
