Seven dead in separate road mishaps in state

Four persons died after a road accident at South 24 Parganas' Bisnupur on Thursday night.

An auto-rickshaw which was carrying eight persons including the driver turned on its side at Banganagar crossing in Bisnupur and caused the accident.

Four persons died on the spot. All the victims were taken to the hospital.

The hospital authority declared four persons as brought dead but the other four were admitted in the hospital in a critical condition.

Police said that the auto was hit by a dump-truck from behind. The dump-truck fled the spot. Police have started to search for the killer vehicle.

An 11-year-old boy died at Kshudiramnagar, Haldia after a private car crushed him under its wheels.

Tuhin Samanta, the student was standing in front of this teacher's residence with his father and two elder sisters while the killer vehicle hit him from behind.

The vehicle escaped the spot. Local police started raid to book the accused driver.

In another incident, Surya Kanta Nandi and his wife Mousumi Nandi was hit by a speeding motor bike near Midnapore bus stand. They received injuries on their legs and back.

The couple lodged complaint against an unknown bike rider at the local police station.

Two persons died and two others were injured in a road accident at National Highway 34 at Nadia district's Nakashipara on Thursday night.

A head-on collision between the private car of a picnic party and a speeding Asansol-bound lorry claimed the life of those persons there, police said.

The persons who died there were in the private car and were returning back home from a picnic.
