The state Public Works Department (PWD) would soon start upgradation of various national highways in the state.
Several projects on the national highways have been sanctioned and work is expected to begin shortly. Rehabilitation and upgradation of two lanes between Nandakumar-Contai-Chandaneswar road from 0 to 25.50 km and a stretch from 25 km to 64 km on NH 116B would start soon, State public works department minister Aroop Biswas said in the Assembly.
West Bengal State Highway Development Corporation has already undertaken widening and strengthening of important highways including two lanes of Saptagram-Tribeni-Kalna-Katwa Road. Total estimated cost of widening of six important highways is around Rs 1,209.58 crore.
