Security has been beefed up in Howrah and Sealdah stations following the terror attack in Lucknow.
Extra forces of security personnel were also deployed at various government installations and the places which see a large number of public gatherings. National Investigation Agency (NIA) which has been probing into the incident have come to know about the involvement of two persons ~ Debasis Roy and Tarak Majumdar both are residents of Bagda in North 24 Parganas. The NIA suspect that the two might have links with one Md Obaidullah in Bangladesh. Their primary objective was to sneak the terrorists into the country. According to the preliminary investigation, the investigating officials came to know that the two youth were in touch with Obaidullah who is a terror suspect in Bangladesh. The NIA officials are yet to trace the two accused. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused who were at large.
Security was also beefed up at the Calcutta airport. Deployment of police personnel was intensified at various Metro stations as well. Police have been asked to be extra vigilant. Following the incident, the Bengal police have also been asked to carry out surveillance at various Centre and state government owned institutions. Security has also been beefed up at various important tourist destinations in the city and the districts.
The NIA officials are carrying out a detailed probe into the modus operandi in this connection.
