A person filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Calcutta High Court on Monday, demanding a probe into the leak of physical science question paper in Madhyamik Examination this year. The PIL demanded to conduct the physical science examination once again.
However, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) ruled out any incident of question paper leak. The physical science examination was on March 1. Such allegations came to WBBSE from Malda and North Dinajpur, while the examination was going on. However, the chairman of the WBBSE, Kalyanmoy Ganguly clearly said, it was not an incident of question leak.
On Monday, Kunal Bagchi, the person who filed the PIL, demanded that the WBBSE should conduct fresh examination before publishing the result of Madhyamik Examination.
It may be recalled, the chairman of the WBBSE had earlier clarified that it was true that two pages of physical science question paper were spread via WhatsApp. The incident had taken place at around 12.45 pm. That time, all the candidates were sitting inside the examination halls. So, the incident cannot be termed as leak of question paper.
The chairman instructed the Malda police, district administration and district inspector of secondary education to conduct inquiry separately. The offenders would get strong punishment.
However, on Monday, Ganguly refused to comment on the PIL.
Police earlier learnt that the news of leaking physical science question paper came from Malda Rotua Block number 1. Some people were talking about leak of question paper in front of Bhoda BSB High School. Later 'leaked' portion of the paper allegedly reached some journalists
via WhatsApp.
In every centre of the examination, the invigilators were asked to submit their mobile phones to the headmaster of the school, which was nominated as centre for Madhyamik Examination. Students were also restricted to carry mobile phones in the examination centre.
