Kolkata: Kolkata Metro services were disrupted on Friday after piece of a board fell on the track near Rabindra Sadan Metro station. Normal service resumed after a few minutes.

"At 4.11 pm, the loco pilot noticed a piece of board on the track. Immediately, he applied the brakes and stopped the train," spokesperson of Metro Railway Indrani Banerjee told Millennium Post.

The train was heading towards Dum Dum. The incident took place between Rabindra Sadan and Netaji Bhawan Metro stations.

Within minutes after the motorman saw a piece of the board on the track, he informed the Metro officials.

Metro Railway officials cut off the power supply immediately and then went to the spot and removed the piece after which the services were restored.

According to the passengers, Metro train services were disrupted for more than half-an-hour.

Just two days ago, the hand of a passenger who was inside the coach got caught between the doors.

The incident took place at 8.47 am at Netaji Bhavan station in a Dum Dum-bound non-AC train.

Meanwhile, the Metro Railway has installed two convex mirrors at the driving motorman's end on both Up and Down platforms at Park Street Metro station. These mirrors will help the driving motorman to observe any irregularities happening in the platform while closing the Metro rake doors.

Ensuring security of the passengers, more CCTVs will be installed at different spots.

Kolkata Metro is the first underground Metro railway in India. It extends from Dum Dum near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport to Kavi Subhash station near Patuli.
