The investigators of Bidhannagar City Police were almost confirmed that Poulomi Raut, the 37-year-old woman, committed suicide on Wednesday by hanging herself
from the ceiling fan. Before hanging herself, she chocked her son to death.
But to investigate the reason behind the case, the officer found that the woman was deeply depressed with the ailment of her 9-month-old son. The baby boy had undergone surgery thrice. But the doctors could not give any hope. The condition of the child was almost moribund as the mother could not see it in her own eyes.
The child had a critical ailment in his rectum, which was far from curing. The mother could not tolerate this as another date of surgery was nearing in April.
The investigators, however, also found that Poulomi was egotistic in nature. She did not like to take money from her husband Anup Raut, who is one of the top brass of a US-based IT consultancy services.
She used to take money from her parents, even for the treatment of her son. On Thursday night, Anup's mother-in-law refused to file a
complaint with the police against her son-in-law. She said, Anup is a genuine man. Her daughter was frustrated. However, the father-in-law of Anup claimed that his daughter was killed.
