A victim of the Kasba clash died in a city hospital on Wednesday. Two other injured were admitted there in a critical condition. However, the residents of the area demanded quick arrest of the local anti-socials.
Police said, Palas Jana, the local resident, succumbed to his splinter injuries on Wednesday morning. The condition of Babu Haldar who is another victim, was stated serious. Meanwhile, police arrested five persons in connection with the case.
It might be recalled, some pedestrians received injuries after they were hit by a bomb's splinters. Some anti-socials were fighting against each other at Kasba's Suin Ho Lane on Tuesday morning.
Those who got hurt were crossing the road while the splinters hit them. Police learnt that two ever-contesting groups of anti-socials were hurling bombs at each other. The incident happened during that fight.
The cops also learnt that the clash started at slum number 16 in ward number 67. Few people started quarreling over the possession of a public toilet on Monday night. Later, the two groups of anti-socials reached there. A local anti-social started claiming that it was his area. The altercation turned into a gang fight.
The problem was solved late in the night after discussion. However, just as fire simmers under ash and can start the blaze afresh, the fight resumed on Tuesday.
The local residents alleged that some anti-socials have terrified the area. The residents are scared about their activities. On Wednesday, residents demanded the arrest of some anti-socials who were involved in the incident. They also alleged that those anti-socials are close to a local Councillor.
On Wednesday, policemen inspected the whole area. A huge contingent of the force was seen in the area. The local residents alleged that it was actually a syndicate clash which crawled to the dirty game of dominion of the area. Police said, the situation is now completely under control.
