State Panchayat and Rural Development minister Subrata Mukherjee said the members of Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, Zila Parishads will be able to contest elections for Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections without resigning.
Earlier, the norm was to first resign from their respective posts and then contest the polls. Subrata said: "I have briefed the Chief Minister about this. Within a day or two, I will give her a written proposal." The minister said this during the State Panchayat Conference that ended on Saturday.
