Trinamool Youth Congress will hold a meeting at Bhojerhat in South 24 Parganas to dispel doubts from people's mind about the power grid project that is coming up in Bhangar.
The meeting entitled "Bhojerhat Chalo" will be held on February 18. State panchayat and Rural development minister Subrata Mukherjee and state Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay will attend the meeting.
The date of the meeting has been fixed after discussion with Trinamool Congress's national youth president Abhishek Banerjee and he might attend the meeting.
Banerjee has not been attending party meetings since he received major injury in a car crash on October 18 last year.
The Lok Sabha MP was on his way to Kolkata after attending a meeting in Murshidabad when his car met with an accident.
Party leaders said the allegations made by the Opposition parties would be answered.
Some workers of CPIML are carrying out whispering campaigns and are trying to brainwash rural people.
They know that once the power grid becomes functional, then vast areas covering hundreds of villages will get power and this will further loosen their grip over local people.
They told the people that once the grid started working then fish cultivation would be badly hit.
The water bodies will dry up and the foetus in the mother's womb will be mentally retarded.
Addressing a rally some days ago, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay had said these were all rumours and urged people not to get swayed.
However, as the CPIML and CPI(M) are engaged in whispering campaign, Trinamool leaders thought that the matter should be dealt with politically.
However, local people have understood the game plan of the Opposition and have cooperated with administration to remove the logs which they had earlier used to block the road to prevent police from entering the village.
Life is limping back to normal and the schools and shops have reopened.
