A 22-feet-tall Saraswati idol will be an attraction this year at Siliguri's Prakashnagar.

The organiser of the puja, Parijat Public School took the initiative to make this tall idol, which has already become an attraction to the children.

It should be recalled, Diglabar Social Welfare Centre, Kolaghat has made a 25-feet tall Saraswati idol this year. The tall idols have become quite popular among the students of all age groups.

The organisers in Siliguri hired sculptor Gopal Paul to make this idol. Paul completed his work on Monday. Paul is father of Jiten Paul, the headmaster of Parijat Public School.

The headmaster of the school requested his father to make this tall Saraswati idol which will be a major attraction among the children. The sculptor could not disappoint his son. He managed to make the idol in a short amount of time.

However, in Kolaghat, the 25-feet-tall Saraswati idol has become an instant attraction. Hundreds of students visited the pandal to see the idol in Tuesday.

The organisers expect that the number will increase on Wednesday.

"As we said, it will be an inescapable attraction of this year's puja and festivals in Kolaghat. The organisation hopes to get a huge turnout this year," said an organiser.

The district police, however, were informed about the giant Saraswati idol at Siliguri and Kolaghat. Both the organisers took the concept from Deshapriyo Park Durga Puja. "The people, especially children, always have an attraction towards large idols. We saw this trend in Deshapriyo Park at Kolkata for last two years," said an organizer.

Meanwhile, the organisers in Kolaghat spent Rs 1 lakh to make 25-feet Saraswati idol. Some artists from Kolkata and East Midnapore jointly made this beautiful idol. The organisers in Siliguri, on the contrary, spent only Rs 5,000. The sculptor Gopal Paul has not taken his fees for his work.
