Drivers of govt-run buses and private buses clash in Govindanagar

Clash broke out among the employees and drivers of state government-run buses and private buses on Sunday morning at Bankura's Govindanagar area. At least 

20 people started to fight among each other which caused injuries to two persons. The injured persons were taken to a local hospital. They were admitted there in a critical condition.

Police, however, started an investigation. Some employees of government buses lodged a complaint with the police. A case was initiated. "We learnt that the state government-run buses were taking passengers from a bus stand. A private bus was coming from behind. But it could not take passengers from there. An altercation broke out from there," said a police officer.

The private bus employees and owners alleged that the government run buses are not maintaining time. They run their bus without any discussion with them. As a result, the private owners suffer and they face huge losses.

On the other hand, the employees of government-run buses alleged that they have to maintain the time table given by state Transport department. So, they cannot help the private owners in this matter. But some private bus owners threatened to kill them. However, the police informed the matter to district administration.

However, in another incident, eleven persons were injured, in a clash between two groups at Malda on Saturday night.

Police said the two groups of people clashed over an incident where some women were allegedly molested. They hurled crude bombs at each other. Of the eleven injured, four were referred to local hospital.

Police later arrested four persons from the area and the situation was under control. While some local people claimed the two rival sides were fought, but police said the identity of the two groups was not confirmed.
