A daily wage worker was injured when the contactor he used to work under, attacked him with a sharp weapon after the former demanded his dues from him.
It was alleged that the victim Deepak Mistry was taken to Kerala as a daily wage labourer by one Kanai Pal. Both are the residents of Vaishnab Babar area in Malda.
The victim returned to his native place a few days ago but the accused contractor did not clear his dues despite of repeated pleas.
For the last two days the victim went to his house and asked for the money but the accused sought some more time from him.
On Sunday, the victim youth again turned to his house as he desperately needed cash. When he went to the house of the accused a hot altercation broke out between the two when the accused refused to pay the due amount.
The accused suddenly took a sharp weapon from his house and attacked him. The victim received severe injuries on his body. After hearing about the incident, the local people rushed to the spot and took the victim to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to Malda Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He is fighting for his life in the hospital.
According to the doctors, his condition is stated to be serious. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim's family members, the police have started a case.
The accused had, however, fled the spot after the incident. Police are conducting raids to nab the culprit.
It may be mentioned that on November 20, a girl who used to work as a domestic help at a house was badly beaten up by the house owner where she had been working for last fourteen years.
The only fault that the victim had committed was that she demanded for Rs 250 which was due as her monthly fees.
The incident occurred at Tutbari area of Malda. Police said that the victim girl Golapi Haldar had been working at the house of one Somenath Agarwal as a domestic help for nearly 14 years. Few days ago, she left the job.
On Sunday morning, the victim went to the house of Agarwal and asked the family members to pay the due amount of Rs 250. As she demanded the amount, a quarrel broke out between Agarwal family members and her. It has been alleged that one of the family members Raju Agarwal hit her on her head with a brick.
