Kolkata: Devaloke Decasa, a well-known housing complex near Narendrapur will base its theme on legendary RD Burman.
This is for the first time when music lovers in the city will pay their heartfelt respect to the genius by making his life and work as the main theme of Durga puja.
It may be mentioned that Bhowanipore Sarbojanin Durgatsav Samity will have Kishore Kumar as its Durga Puja theme.
Kaushik Ghosh of Kauushik Events has conceived the idea. Kaushik said: "Being an R D Burman fan, I planned it. The pandal decoration will be made by his film posters, film titles, pictures and some of the musical instruments he had used."
As the organisation is all set to celebrate it's fifth year of Durga Puja, it made me think of Pancham da as it stands for the fifth note that is Paa, said Kaushik. RD Burman along with his parents, SD Burman and Meera used to stay on South End Park. RD, a typical Kolkata boy, had studied here and had great respect for the city and its musicians till his untimely death.
He had composed some of the immortal Puja numbers. He sang — "Mone pore Ruby Roy kobitae tomake" which was an instant back in those Puja days. He composed songs like Moyena bolo tumi Krishna radhe, kine de reshmi churi, chokhe chokhe kotha bolo, sabdhye bela tumi ami boshe achi dujone, which were sung by Asha Bhosle and all these songs became super duper Puja hit.
