Kolkata: Tiyasa Majumdar, a promising model and serial artist who attempted suicide after jumping off the roof at her house on Satyen Roy Road under Behala police station on April 1 morning, died in the hospital on Thursday morning.
After fighting for her life for past four days, she finally succumbed to her injuries. She suffered critical injuries after falling from her house roof.
According to the investigation, police suspect that the 21-year-old model had attempted suicide by jumping off the roof of her two-storeyed building on Sunday when her family members were away from home.
Some locals heard a loud thud and found the victim was lying in a pool of blood on the road adjacent to the house. She was immediately rushed to Vidyasagar state general hospital and later shifted to SSKM Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
She had been undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
According to police, she had been pursuing her graduation from Vivekananda College. Police said she was suffering from mental depression. She used to stay at her house with parents.
During investigation, police also came to know that she had been undergoing treatment as she had some nerve related problems. She often became agitated at her parents. She was not happy as she was not getting any major breakthrough in the TV serials. Police came to know that the victim was under tremendous mental depression which might have led to her death.
