Miscreants shoot at petrol pump manager, flee with Rs 10 lakh

The manager of a fuel refilling station situated off National Highway 34 at Raiganj in North Dinajpur was shot at after which unidentified miscreants escaped with Rs 10 lakh.
Police said after speaking to some of the employees of the petrol pump it was known that there were around eight persons and they came on four motorbikes. They first refilled the motorbikes and then started threatening everyone in the petrol pump. They were carrying firearms. When three of them were standing outside, rest of them had entered the office in the petrol pump and asked an employees at gunpoint to open the vault. They took away Rs 10 lakh from the vault. All of a sudden, the accused opened fire at the manager Ananta Nath when other employees started crying for help. He received bullet injuries. The accused had managed to flee before local people reached the spot.
The local people and other employees of the petrol pump took Nath to Karandighi Rural Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Police initiated a probe in this connection and collected samples from the spot. A police officer said that this was a preplanned crime and the accused had done recce of the place for two to three times before finally raiding the petrol pump.
Police suspect that someone from the locality who is well aware of the area might have been involved in the crime. The police have also taken statements of some of the people and employees of the petrol pump who witnessed the incident.
