Aditya Lal Mukherjee, a cheater, was arrested at Salt Lake on the charge of siphoning off money from several persons. One of his victims lodged complaint against him at Bidhannagar North Police Station. On Friday, the police arrested him on the basis of such complaint.
Pupu Mukherjee, the complainant, from whom the accused allegedly took Rs 12,15,000, lodged an FIR against him. The complainant was told to provide a flat, but Aditya Lal Mukherjee could not fulfil his promise. He even avoided the complainant when he was asked to return back the money. Aditya Lal Mukherjee was taken to the court and he was remanded to 5-day police custody. However, the investigators have learnt about some other similar cases where Aditya Lal Mukherjee was involved.
According to a police source, Aditya Lal Mukherjee was a polished character and could easily convince many people. He took that advantage in such cases. The investigators, interestingly, found that Aditya Lal Mukherjee has many high level contacts. There were photographs of him with many celebrities. The investigators found his picture with a revered actor of Bengali cinema, an actress turned MP, and an actress turned MLA. The investigators interrogated him about his activities.
The details of his bank accounts and other assets were also inquired by the investigators.
