Mamata chalks out roadmap for Chatra Parishad, directs formation of new committee
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday prepared the roadmap for smooth functioning of Trinamool Chatra Parishad, by directing three of her senior party leaders - Partha Chatterjee, Subrata Bakshi and Abhishek Banerjee, to create a new committee of the party's student wing within 15 days.
Banerjee further announced the constitution of a core group with leaders like Ashoke Deb, Baishanar Chatterjee and Tapas Roy, who had been the erstwhile presidents of TMCP, to assist in the formation of the new committee that will contribute towards better decision making in the days to come.
Speaking at the foundation day event of TMCP, the Trinamool supremo hailed the students and youths as her future leaders and made it clear that she wants them to not surrender to money power, muscle power or to the politics of hatred and riots.
"If you do good work, you do not need any lobbying. Your good work will surely be acknowledged. There is no alternative to hard work and struggle. I want dedicated student leaders who should be fearless and should not cave in to any sort of provocation. No one can stop those who rise through struggle in life," Banerjee said, citing anecdotes from her own life to describe how she has risen in stature through constant struggle.
She maintained that Bengal has enough scope for the youths and there is no reason for them to travel to other states. "There are enough opportunities here. You should not allow depression to creep into your minds. Think positive, be positive and serve with a smile," she added.
She further advised the student leaders to collaborate with the police in their community development programmes, to connect better with the masses.
Meanwhile, Trinamool National Youth Congress president Abhishek Banerjee launched a scathing attack at BJP and its president Amit Shah, who has claimed that the party will win 22 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Questioning the credibility of BJP's organisational strength in the state, he said: "You are dreaming of capturing Bengal by bringing in outsiders. Where are your party men here? You have to bring people from Ranchi to set up a pandal here. For a public meeting you have to bring people from Jharkhand. You have no organisation and you are claiming that you will win 22 seats in Lok Sabha. I challenge you to marshal people and win in 22 booths in the elections."
He further reiterated that students and the TMCP youths are enough to take the fight to BJP in the state.
