LS poll drive: Leaders to highlight CM's schemes

Kolkata: North 24-Parganas district Trinamool Congress leaders have decided to highlight various schemes initiated and implemented by the Mamata Banerjee government in its tenure for the past eight years during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

A letter containing the details of various projects started by the Mamata Banerjee government would be sent to every household. The letter would also carry a 'good wish' message from the Chief Minister.

A core committee meeting of the district committee of Trinamool Congress was conducted at Madhyamgram on Saturday where various election related issues were discussed at length. The district party leaders have started their poll preparations and chalked out a detailed plan on how to carry out the campaign. It was decided to make people aware about the key schemes of the government.

It was revealed during the meeting that an election committee was formed at booth level to understand the mood of the people. These committees will hold a number of meetings at the booth level every seven days and finally submit a detailed report to the district leaders on the basis of their observation.

The district Trinamool Congress is mostly relying on development projects by the state government. Moreover, the development work carried out by using the funds of the MPs would also be highlighted by the party activists and leaders, who will visit the households.

They would also inform the people that how various schemes like Sasthya Sathi, Khadya Sathi, Kanyshree helped the people to achieve social and economical growth.

Committees have been constituted at each Lok Sabha constituency area for the better co-ordination. Senior party leaders in the district have decided to make people aware about the various government projects which have contributed towards to socio-economic upliftment of a large number of people in the state particularly those living in rural areas.

District Trinamool President Jyotipriya Mallick, who is also the minister of state food and supplies department, said people from across the state particularly the young generations are familiar with the development schemes carried out by the state government.

Mallick also said it would never be an easy task for the BJP to contest the forthcoming election as it has no political organisation in the state. He also reminded that people of Bengal have seen how the present government has brought in sea change in past eight years.

"We are with the people since the Mamata Banerjee government came to power. Our party leaders and activists will go to the households and highlight the development schemes of the government. We are setting up a platform before the election and chalking out plans to conduct the campaign," Mallick said.
