Tension ran high at Raigunge District Hospital on Monday morning when a Malda girl went to the hospital with a fake appointment letter.
The victim, Baby Das, a resident of Shri Chandrapur village in Malda went to the office of the hospital super who told the girl that her appointment letter was fake after going through it. The family members of the girl along with her family members gheraoed the hospital superintendent. After being informed, the police reached the spot and lifted the gherao.
In the face of interrogation, the victim girl told the police that she got the appointment letter from an organisation at Naihati in North 24 Parganas against a huge amount of money. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim has been duped by some fake job racket that has been operating from the state.
Police said that girl was carrying a fake appointment letter where the name of the hospital was mentioned. The fake appointment letter mentions that the girl would get Rs 12,640 per month. Police found some discrepancies in the statement of the girl as well. The fake letter also mentioned that the girl would be appointed as a receptionist at the Raigunge Sub-Divisional Hospital. A senior official of the hospital said that this is not the first case where a job-seeker has appeared at the hospital with fake appointment letters. Some candidates had earlier came to the hospital with fake papers. The victim told the police that she found an advertisement carrying a mobile number of one Rajib Sahu. When she called up on the number, she was told to come down to his office at Naihati. The victim later visited the office where she got the appointment letter against a huge amount of money. Police have started an investigation in this regard and are conducting a search to nab the accused who according to the police runs a fake job racket.
