A police officer in guise of a patient visited and arrested the accused, Gobinda Sarkar, who had been practicing in a chamber as a general physician without a valid registration. The police took the step after a complaint was lodged with the police superintendent of the district two days ago. The police super instructed the Deganga police station to look into the matter.
An assistant sub-inspector of police of the Deganga police station visited the doctor as a patient. He told the accused that he had been suffering from some ailments. After being caught, the accused told the police that he bought the false registration certificate from a person against Rs 10,000. Police also said that the accused had been treating patients for the past 7-8 years.
The local people said that they did not have the idea that he was a fake doctor. They said that the accused was always available even at midnight if there was an emergency.
