Govt to initiate computer training progs at madarsas

The state government has decided to initiate a five-year long computer training programme for students of 169 madarsas in different blocks.
According to an official in the state secretariat, the madarsas where the project will be undertaken are situated in 151 blocks. There was an investment of around Rs 8.19 lakh to create infrastructure in each of the madarsa and it includes setting up of computer systems along with projectors.
Out of the 169 madarsas, 15 are in Burdwan, eight in Birbhum, 12 in Howrah, 20 in Malda, 34 in Murshidabad and eight in Nadia.
It is learnt that the task of creating necessary
infrastructure will be initiated soon. At the same time, the state government officials are working on finalising the group that expertises in providing training and at the
same time, maintain of the computer systems.
The step has been taken to ensure that each and every student in madarsas gain basic knowledge on computers and Internet.
The initiative has been taken at a time when the state government is working in a war footing to go paperless by introducing complete e-governance system. Many departments have already become successful in ensuring e-governance.
At the same time, such training on computer is essential to become successful in any field of work in today's world, the official said adding that the steps are being taken to initiate it as early as possible.
It may be mentioned that the state government had earlier taken steps to introduce a unique system to telecast the teaching process of the "best" teachers in madarsas and other such institutions. The telecast of the best teaching process through an online based messaging system is one of the many steps to ensure improvement in the education quality in madarsas.
