Two held for promising admission: Cops search for aide

 The police initiated a search for the person who had been helping the two arrested persons to get students admitted in a
school and a college in the city.
The police had arrested Shyamal Poddar and Subrata Chakraborty from in front of Surendranath College on Wednesday night on charges of taking money after assuring help to get admission in a college.
The accused were produced before the court on Thursday and they were remanded to the custody of the police till July 5.
Police had initiated a probe after receiving a complaint from a resident of Beniapukur, who had
alleged that the accused had taken Rs 15 lakh from him to get two of his
family members admitted for BCom Honours course in the college.
But the duo didn't help them in getting admission in the college.
During interrogation, police came to know that they had also helped three children get admitted to a reputed school.
The police are
considering that there could be some more persons in the racket and the investigating officers are trying to get details about those persons from the duo.
The police have recovered Rs three lakh of the total amount given in cash from the accused.
