CBI summons Iqbal again, serves him notice in hospital

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday once again summoned deputy Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Iqbal Ahmed in connection with the Narada sting operation.
Ahmed is at present admitted in a private hospital in South Kolkata. The CBI officers went to the hospital on Tuesday and served him the notice to turn up at the CBI's office in Nizam Palace on June 22.

Earlier on June 15, the CBI officers had interrogated Ahmed in this connection and it continued for around seven-long hours. Within a few hours after the interrogation, Ahmed fell ill and was admitted to the hospital with severe pain in his chest.

The investigating officers had summoned Ahmed once again on June 16 as they wanted to ask him something more related to the case. But he had failed to turn up as he fell ill and got admitted to the hospital.

Ahmed's counsel went to the CBI's office on June 16 and informed the investigating agency about poor health of Ahmed. He had also assured that Ahmed will co-operate with the CBI to probe into it but they have to give him time till his health condition improves.
