Nadia police have arrested another fake doctor from Chapra area on charges of practicing without a valid registration.
The accused Adaitya Mondal, originally from Burnpur in West Burdwan had been residing at Chapra for the last five years. He also started his chamber at Chapra Haspatal Para area. He used to claim that he was a doctor of neuromedicine.
After a fake doctor was arrested from Hashkhali in the same district, the police started an inquiry to look into the profile of various doctors practicing in chambers throughout the district. During the
inquiry, police came to know about Mondal.
The police also came to know that he had never done an MBBS course and had no valid registration number. Police found that the accused doctor also used a signboard claiming himself to be an MBBS doctor. The investigating officer also gathered some further information against the accused.
A team of police officers on Friday night raided the chamber of the accused and wanted to show his documents in support of his degree. They also asked if he can show his registration number.
The accused doctor failed to produce any of these documents. The accused remained silent when the police asked him why he used to treat patients without having a degree.
He was taken to the police station and later arrested. The accused was remanded to four days' police custody after being produced at a district court on Saturday.
