Extortion case: Mathew summoned again today

 The Kolkata Police on Friday directed Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel to turn up at Munchipara police station once again on Saturday with bank statements and other related documents.
Saturday will be the third consecutive day when Samuel will be questioned in connection with the Munchipara case in which in which a former Central minister from Bihar received a call from Central Kolkata demanding an extortion money of Rs 5 crore.

He was interrogated on Thursday and Friday in similar connection. On each of the days he was questioned by the investigating officers for nearly eight hours. 

On Friday, Samuel reached the police station at around 12.20 pm and left the place at 8.30 pm.

Sources said that the police felt the necessity to go through the documents and his bank account details after questioning him.

The police have questioned Samuel to get further details about the youth Vikram Singh from whose 

laptop the police had got hold of the video footages in which Samuel's presence was found besides that of the former Central minister D P Yadav, who had received threat calls from Munchipara area. 

It is learnt that the police have also shown him the video footages and other recovered items from the hotel where Vikram had boarded.


Since there are certain financial aspects in the case, the police want to go through the bank account statements of Samuel. If needed, the police would ask him to visit the police station again after going through the bank statements and other relevant documents.
