Programmes to make trade fraternity GST ready

 The Central Excise and Service Tax, Kolkata Zone has organised a plethora of programmes for reaching out to the trade fraternity towards making them aware of Goods and Services Tax.

The organisation has arranged back to back awareness programmes for different large, medium and small businesses, which will become part of GST chain from July 1.

The trade houses covered were Bengal Chamber of Commerce, Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CII, FICCI, Garments Association, Jewellers' Association, Leather Association, Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), Indian Plastics Federation, Federation of Small & Medium Scale Industries (FOSMI), Tea Board, Confederation for Promotion of Export Council (CAPEXIL) and others.


Series of programmes were also organised by the department for training of the officers, who are currently posted in the Central Excise and Service Tax department.

This training was further extended in the form of 'Refresher Training', for making each and every one familiar with the new tax structure and acquainting them with the GST Network, which is the backbone of GST.

The Central Excise and Service Tax has reached out to the stakeholders as well. 

Mobile vans were posted at various regions of Kolkata as well as the suburbs, whereby, officers were seen helping the businessmen in the migration process.Help desks were opened at each and every Commissionerate to help the assessees and make them aware of the changes they are supposed to expect in the new GST regime.
