Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to introduce a new mobile application which will provide information relating to the KMC-run health centers and various health services that they provide.
It was learnt that KMC's health department will soon introduce the mobile application for the benefits of the people living under the KMC areas. If everything goes as plan, the new mobile app will be introduced from May 5. People can get to know the services available with various KMC-run health centers by downloading the app on their mobile phones.
A senior official of the health department of the KMC said that people need to go to the playstore on their Android phones to download the app. Once the app is downloaded, they will get to know where and how they would get the treatment of various diseases like malaria, dengue and tuberculosis. The app will provide a detailed information including where blood tests can be done free of cost. In case a person falls ill, he or she will get to know where to get the required services by using the mobile app.
It was also learnt that a foreign company has been assigned to develop the mobile application. Most importantly, the proposed application will also fix the accountability of the employees of various health workers as the senior officials will get to know if the employees were providing the services or if there was any negligence on their part. According to a senior official, the health department will monitor the functioning of various health centres and the activities of the employees.
The initiative was taken many days ago. The app has been developed and will be introduced soon. Trails runs are in process. Once the app is introduced, it would be easier for the civic bodies to provide better health care services to the people.
